Huntsville Rocket City BBQ & Whistle Stop Festival
Several ASI shade tree cookers will be participating in the fifth annual Rocket City BBQ and Whistle Stop Festival. Scheduled for May 6 and 7 at the Huntsville Depot Roundhouse, three teams from ASI will be heating up the shade tree competition.
This year marks the fourth consecutive year that ASI has participated in the Whistle Stop Festival. The entire weekend is filled with food, fun, and laughter. It is a great opportunity to spend some quality time with fellow ASI employees and their families, says Jack Conway, ASI vice president of systems management, and Ribbers team captain.
A competing teammate also feels the same way. The Whistle Stop is food, friends, and fun, says RATS (Ribbers And Then Some) team member Tracy Dean. Since last year, employee interest has grown and third team, lead by Ed Wensell is in the works.

Heart Walk 2005
This year, once again, a highly motivated team of employees was on hand to support the American Heart Associations annual Heart Walk. Pledging to raise $2,000 the team set an aggressive goal but knew it was achievable. In fact, they exceeded their goal by over $400. Additionally, Monica Ludwig raised over $1,000 and won a cruise for two. Special thanks go out to the entire team for supporting the Heart Walk. ASIs 2005 Heart Walk team members were Amy Heard, Beth Smith, Rod Duke, Scott Valent, Monica Ludwig, Terri Rollins, Tony Odom, Erica McClain, Stephanie Jordan, and Kelvin Colbert.

Laptops for Troops
Wounded soldiers returning from both Iraq and Afghanistan often spend weeks and months confined to hospital rooms and beds while waiting to either undergo surgeries or to participate in extensive rehabilitation and prosthetic training. With this comes waiting, sleepless nights and memories of tragic incidents they experienced or witnessed during combat.

According to ASIs Denny Green, the ability to access a computer, write friends and family, surf the internet or simply play computer games can help turn sometimes lengthy waiting times into more positive experiences. Wanting to help, Green has been instrumental in getting the attention of local industry and several computer giants.
Several have donated laptops to troops at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington DC and at the Bethesda Naval Medical Center in Maryland.
Support for this much needed effort has been phenomenal. However, according to Green, theres still much to be done. Green joined ASI in 2000 and is located in ASIs Prattville - Montgomery area office. He currently serves as vice president of information technology and management.
